 Postdoctoral Positions in Bose-Einstein Condensation and Quantum Degenerate Gases at the University of Queensland

We are advertising a postdoctoral position in the theoretical program on finite-temperature nonequilibrium dynamics and quantum nonlocality tests with ultracold atoms. The program is run by A/Prof. Matthew Davis and Dr Karen Kheruntsyan and is funded by the Australian Research Council Discovery Project Grants in the Quantum Atom Optics theory group within the School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland.

The University of Queensland is situated near the heart of the city of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia.  It has a subtropical climate that is “Beautiful one day, perfect the next.”  The School of Mathematics and Physics hosts a head-node of an ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems, a node of an ARC CoE for Quantum Computing and Communication Technologies, plus several other Quantum Science programs. The Quantum Atom Optics Theory group works closely with an experimental program in ultracold gases run by Prof. Halina Rubinsztein-Dunlop; the two programs involve 10 staff members and a similar number of PhD students.

The postdoctoral position is a full-time, fixed term (2 years) appointment at Academic Research level A or B depending on qualifications. The appointee will conduct research on: (i) non-equilibrium dynamics in superfluid Bose-Einstein condensates, and (ii) Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen entanglement and Bell inequality tests with ultracold atoms.
