Ramanujan’s garden

Prof. Ole Warnaar, The University of Queensland
This colloquium will be held in Parnell 07-222 at 3pm.

In a famous 1987 talk Freeman Dyson took his audience on a walk through Ramanujan’s garden. This garden, which is full of weird and wonderful mathematical results, continues to inspire mathematicians and physicists till the present day.

In this talk I will discuss some of Ramanujan’s most famous results, and the role they play in fields such as knot theory, statistical mechanics and string theory.
