Evidence suggests that “clickers” maintain student engagement in lectures. However, the technology limits student interactions to multiple choice answers. To encourage a broader range of interactions, we have piloted student use of tablet PC’s in tutorial sessions in Engineering Thermodynamics.

I will discuss these trials, as well as the challenges of expanding this technology to larger classes in UQ’s “Advanced Concept Teaching Space”. There will be opportunities for the audience to interact and experience examples of learning activities.

Is this really the future of Physics teaching? Come along and decide for yourself.
