Day 1

George got up bright and early on the morning of his departure and headed off to the RACQ to (ie the AA) to get some maps before he left Brisbane, this was a very good idea, as the maps came in very handy, especially in Canberra and New South Wales. He took off in his car and went down the New England highway. It was very good, some of the scenery was rather nice. Here is George on the NSW/QLD border.

Now we see George on the way into Armidale in NSW. The University of New England is in Armidale. George didn't know that there was a University of New England. "You learn something new every day," said George.

This is George coming into Tamworth. Tamworth is the capital of Country and Western music in Australia. It was getting late by the time George got to Tamworth and he decided to stay the night. He found a nice wee place (that was run by NZers - nice to see!) and a good deal - $49.50 including brekky. "Boy, that is a good deal," George said.

Here is George outside his motel room in Tamworth.
