This is looking towards the dome in the War Memorial building (looking away from Parliament House). In the middle of this courtyard we see the pool that has the eternal flame in it (down the far end in the middle). People throw coins into this pool, and this explains the sort of texture one sees in this photo. In the dome at the back is the tomb of the unknown soldier, the front windows to the dome are stained glass windows and are put plainly incredible. George's jaw hit the floor when he walked into the tomb of the unknown soldier. It is really amazing, with four huge mosaics on the walls and stained glass windows on three sides. A very sombre place, but a very cool place. The arched walkways on the sides have the rolls of honour for the wars and people have put poppies into the walls beside the names of family or people they knew. The War Memorial Museum is inside and under the Memorial. It is simply incredible. George spent a lot of time here, in fact, he came back twice more to finish the museum properly. Thanks heaps for your patience Zoe!
