MapView

Ever gotten brain strain from trying to read contour lines and visualise the terrain in question? Well have I got the solution for you. Now you can take a a scanned in topo map, trace the contours (the computer does most of the tracing if the image is good), and render it into a 3D mesh. You can even map the original map back onto the mesh! Here's Mt Bowen on Hinchinbrook Island as an example (note the jpg images are much poorer quality than what you get on the screen):

Mapview.zip [200k] Beta Version 0.1; Contains the executable and basic driving instructions. Runs under Microsoft Windows (Win95, Win98, WinNT, ...)

And here are some maps complete with mesh files for you to play with:
MtBowen.zip [230k] -- Hinchenbrook Island.
BaldRock.zip [260k] -- BaldRock National Park.
MtNorman.zip [290k] -- Girraween National Park.
MtGlorious.zip [215k] -- Brisbane Forrest Park.

Please feel free to Email me with any querries.
