I am a PhD student researching The Formation of Ultra-Compact Dwarf Galaxies

Ultra-compact objects include compact stellar systems such as globular clusters and nucleated dwarf galaxies. Ultra-compact dwarf galaxies were discovered in an all-object multi-fibre spectroscopy survey of the Fornax Cluster using the 2dF instrument on the Anglo-Australian Telescope. They have subsequently been discovered in the central region of the Virgo galaxy cluster. These two nearby clusters, containing hundreds of galaxies, are 50 to 60 million light years distant.
