Inputs to cplos

The following are the keyboard inputs to cplos. Use the numerical values suggested for a first run. Otherwise, all numerical values are up to you.

• Amplitude of the ground floor displacement (a=0.5m)
• Damping factor (b=0)
• Mass of each floor (m=10000kg)
• Resonant period of the floors (p0=5sec)
  Here we are specifying what the elastic constant is indirectly. cplos calculates what the elastic constant must be in order that the undamped resonant period will be the value input.

  

• Period of the driving force (p=5sec). ( )
• Number of floors in the building (n=50)
• Time step (h=0.2sec)
• Integration period (tfin=500sec)
• Maximum displacement on the plot (x0=5.0m)
