PHYS1002 Laboratory

PHYS1002 covers topics in electricity and magnetism, optics and modern physics. It consists of two components:

Laboratories cover a range of topics covered in the lectures including electricity, optics and Special Relativity.

These pages support the laboratory component with information about the experiments and access to Java applet simulations. Experiments that have companion simulations are denoted by (A).

Note that the default installation of Internet Explorer under Windows does not install all the necessary software to run applets. (You will see a grey rectangle instead of the applet). To overcome this, start Internet Explorer and go to

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Follow the instructions for installation. After this the simulations should run - although you might still need to click in the grey rectangle to activate it and/or exit and then restart Internet Explorer.

Please select an experiment from the menu.
