Hi there, we're the Shrine to Spirits tasters.

We rate these drinks on the fairly standard * to ***** scale:

*Inferior. Don't drink this!
**Average and drinkable.
***Good
****Excellent
*****Top class

The main tasters are:

TTimo is the Shrine to Spirits boss writer. Will drink a wide range of spirits, mostly vodka, rum, whiskey and gin. Other drinks are good for variety. Also drinks wine (mostly reds) and some beer.
SSerene likes sweet things and foo-foo drinks, but can suck down whisky like a trooper. Also beer.
JJocelyn When not defending students, spirits are his main hobby. He will drink anything that is meant to be in a bar. In fact, he has a degree in bartending. From bitters to liquors, he likes a wide range of spirits especially the liqueurs.
GGlen drinks beer. (See the Shrine to Suds) He'll drink bourbon, vodka and tasty liqueurs, but shies away from rum, gin, and (especially) ouzo

Occasionally, we have guest raters as well.

How we judge them

It's a personal call, based on how much we liked the stuff. We don't claim to be experts, so we don't try to judge some abstract "quality". But we do offer some description, so if we rated it badly, but it sounds tasty, you might want to try it anyway. We also taste them straight (i.e. unmixed). Sometimes if we think something will mix well, we will say so in the main entry.
