Quartz Crystals in Electronics
A talk on the history of the role of the quartz crystal in communications and time keeping.
Chris trained as a radio technician with the Department of Civil Aviation (now Airservices Australia). His whole working life of 42 years was spent with this organisation. During this time Chris was responsible for maintaining radio communication systems and navigation aids for air traffic control. He had 5 years supporting long range radar and bright display systems and over twenty five years in supporting computer systems responsible for message switching. At the time of his retirement he was managing a group of engineers responsible for supporting and developing software for briefing messaging involved in pre-departure systems.
Chris gained an Associate Diploma in Mathematics and Computing in 1980.
