Awarding of Honours

Awarding of Honours

The B.Sc. (Hons) degree is awarded in different classes depending on your performance.  Your final result is calculated as a percentage, half from your results for coursework and the other half from the mark you are awarded for your thesis.  Note that it is calculated according to the percentage you get for the courses (e.g. 76% or 92%), rather than the grade (e.g. 6 or 7.) Your final result is then

80.00  and above    Class I
70.00 - 79.99           Class IIA
60.00 - 69.99           Class IIB
50.00 - 59.99           Class III (or pass degree)
< 50.00                     Fail (or pass degree)

Note that Class I Honours is a prerequisite for  applying for an Australian Postgraduate Award.
