OFFICE LOCATION
The Quantum Information Science Initiative is situated at the St. Lucia Campus of the University of Queensland. Offices can be found on Level 2 of the Parnell Building within the University’s Great Court (No. 7 on the campus map here). Information about the University and its environs may be found here.
VISA INFORMATION
If you are coming as a Visiting Scholar you will need to check to see if you are eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority Visa (ETA). Check your eligibility here. If you are not eligible, you will need to apply for a Visiting Academic Visa. Full details on this are given here.
GETTING TO THE UNIVERSITY FROM THE AIRPORT
Information about transport to and from the airport is here. The campus is approximately 40 minutes drive from the Brisbane Airport. Taxi fares are approximately $40, depending on peak traffic times. Alternatively, travellers can take the Airtrain ($10 one-way) from the airport to central Brisbane, and then catch a taxi or bus to the University (407 direct, 411 or 412 from Adelaide Street in the City) .
ACCOMMODATION
Visitors will usually be booked into one of the following Apartment Hotels. Both are within a short bus ride of the University in one direction, or the central business district in the other. Both Apartment Hotels are close to shopping areas where visitors can browse or have a meal.

GETTING TO THE UNIVERSITY FROM TOOWONG VILLAS
The bus stop is at the intersection of Coronation Drive (which becomes Benson St) and High St. Catch either a 402, 411 or 412 bus from the stop outside the Beauty School. The cost for a Zone 1 bus ticket will be $2.10 (or $4.20 for an all day ticket). If you are travelling after 9.30am and before 3.30pm, you can buy an off-peak daily ticket for $3.20. Please try to have the correct change ready. Timetable information can be found here. Keen walkers may also enjoy the walk of approximately 45 minutes to the University, although in the summer months this can prove to be very hot and uncomfortable.
Visitors staying at Toowong Villas can also catch a Brisbane City Cat ferry from the Regatta Hotel ferry stop to the University of Queensland, opposite the Regatta Hotel. Timetable and route information can be found here.
GETTING TO THE UNIVERSITY FROM TARINGA GARDENS APARTMENTS
The cost for a Zone 1 bus ticket will be $2.10 (or $4.20 for an all day ticket). If you are travelling after 9.30am and before 3.30pm, you can buy an off-peak daily ticket for $3.20. To get to the bus stop, turn right out of the Apartments, turn left onto Moggill Road and walk past the Mobil petrol station. Walk up the stairs (leading to the bridge that crosses above the road). Walk over the bridge, turn right and then turn left onto Swann Road. The bus stop (No.29) is on your left hand side, just past Clarens Road. The bus ends at The University of Queensland. ARRIVING AT THE UNIVERSITY BY TAXI OR BUS

The taxi rank and bus stop are both in Chancellor’s Place. Once you’ve diesmbarked from the taxi or bus, walk up the slope towards the sandstone arches. Facing you is the Great Court. Turn right and walk around the cloisters until you come to the Parnell Building (Bldg 7). If you get lost, just ask someone where the building is. Once inside the Parnell Building turn left and follow the corridors until you come to the stairs. Climb the stairs, turn left and you will find Juliet Aylmer in Room 309.
KEY AND ROOM ALLOCATION
On your arrival at the University, find your way to Juliet Aylmer’s office - Room 309, Level 2 of the Parnell Building. Juliet will arrange a desk for you and provide keys for your use while you visit. Please try to remember to return them before leaving. If Juliet is not in, then you can find other members of QiSci in the offices around the corner (rooms 307A-314).
COMPUTER ACCCESS
We have several computers in our visitors’ room for your use. Juliet will organise computer access for you. However, should you need to contact IT services and Juliet is not available, please contact Ian Mortimer. He can be found in Room 333 of the Physics Annexe, or contacted by phone (extension 53436) or email (mortimer@physics.uq.edu.au). If you bring a laptop with you please make sure you bring the correct adaptor for Australian power points.
REIMBURSEMENTS
Many of our visitors have a contribution to their travel made by one of our researchers. If you have a written letter of invitation then the terms of this contribution will be outlined in it. There are several things that you will need to bring with you to make the reimbursement a speedy process. Please bring your bank details as the funds will be electronically transferred into an account that you nominate. Original receipts of your expenses must also be provided and a photocopy of your actual air tickets. You will need to fill out a claim form (supplied by Juliet Aylmer). The funds are usually transferred into your account within a few weeks depending on the work load of our Business Services department.

UQ LIBRARY
Visitors are welcome to use the UQ Library. Borrowing privileges can be arranged when you arrive.
PARKING FOR VISITORS
All parking at UQ is free after 9.00pm. Parking Meters are located on the ring road outside the bookshop (Building 4). Otherwise there are Purple Zone Park and Pay Areas and a number of multilevel car parks.
