ACADEMIC POSITIONS ________________ A LECTURESHIP IN THEORETICAL QUANTUM OPTICS Department of Physics, University of Auckland (Vacancy UAC.679) The University wishes to appoint a tenure track member to expand the teaching and research capabilities in Theoretical Physics. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the general undergraduate teaching programme and to the graduate programme in the areas of quantum and statistical physics. She or he will join the existing research group in theoretical quantum optics. Applicants should have research experience in theoretical aspects of quantum optics, atom optics and quantum statistics of dilute systems (eg Bose-Einstein condensation in atoms), including applications to quantum measurement theory. The Physics Department also has an experimental programme in laser cooling and trapping of atoms. Commencing salary will be established within the range NZ$42,500 - 51,500 per annum.
