ABSTRACTS TITLE: Asymptotic limits of SU(2) and SU(3) Wigner functions AUTHORS: D. J. Rowe [1], H. de Guise [2] and B C Sanders [3] ADDRESSES: [1] University of Toronto, [2] CRM, University of Montreal, [3] Macquarie University, Sydney WHERE: CRM preprint 2678 WEB: http://www.crm.umontreal.ca/pub/Rapports/2600-2699/2678.pdf ABSTRACT: Asymptotic limits are given for the SU(2) Wigner functions ${\cal D}^j_{mn}$ functions as $j\to\infty$ for three domains of $m$ and $n$. Similar asymptotic limits are given for the SU(3) Wigner functions of an irrep with highest weight $(\lambda,0)$ as $\lambda\to\infty$. The results are shown to be relevant to the analysis of experiments with quantum interferometers. ******************************************************************************* 2. CONFERENCES / WORKSHOPS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EXPERIMENTAL IMPLEMENTATION OF QUANTUM COMPUTATION (IQC 01) IQC 01 will be held in Sydney, Australia 16-19 January 2001. The objective of the conference is to provide an international forum to review the latest developments in the experimental implementation of quantum computer proposals worldwide. This will also include theoretical investigations relevant to the various computer architectures, implementation strategies and computer operation. Information can be found at ________________________________________________________ Prof. R. Ahlswede and A. Winter are organizing the 2nd Bielefeld Workshop on Quantum Information and Complexity (http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/ahlswede/quantum/) October 12 - 14, 2000 Announcement: (http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/ahlswede/quantum/announcement.html) We call for contributions to the 2nd Bielefeld Workshop on Quantum Information and Complexity. Topics cover all aspects of quantum information theory, including quantum channel problems, quantum source coding, entanglement theory, quantum algorithms, quantum cryptography, quantum games, properties of quantum entropy and related functionals, especially additivity questions, operator theory and inequalities, and new quantum protocols. Contributions should be no longer than 30 minutes, leaving enough time for discussion. Titles of talks (and a short abstract) should be sent by email or by conventional mail to Andreas Winter SFB 343, Fakultaet fuer Mathematik Universitaet Bielefeld Postfach 100131 33501 Bielefeld Germany fon: +49-521-106-2978 fax: +49-521-106-4743 Email: winter@mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de Deadline for submissions is September 15, 2000. Also, if you wish to participate without giving a talk, please notify me as early as possible, preferably by the same date: September 15, 2000. There is also a list of invited lectures. To view it, as well as the preliminary program, and for further information, please visit our website http://www.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/ahlswede/quantum/ ______________________________________________________ Garda 2000: Mysteries, Puzzles and Paradoxes in Quantum Mechanics this is to provide you with the web address of the Workshop "Mysteries, Puzzles and Paradoxes in Quantum Mechanics" http://webcesid.fisica.unimi.it/~congressi/ where you can find application form and details. ******************************************************************************* 4.
