Postdoctoral Positions (Two Available, Closing Date: 30 April 2008)

!!!!!!!! THIS VACANCIE IS NOW CLOSED !!!!!!!!

The ARC Centre for Quantum Computer Technology is offering two new postdoc positions at the University of Queensland node.

  • Primary Purpose of Position

To engage, as a UQ Research Fellow, in the quantum information theory program of CQCT, led by Professor Gerard Milburn, in quantum optical aspects of quantum information science or in the optical quantum computing theory program of CQCT, led by Professor Tim Ralph.

  • Organisational Environment

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Quantum Computer Technology (CQCT) is an Australian multi-university collaboration undertaking research on the fundamental physics and technology of building a quantum computer, focusing particularly on solid-state silicon architectures and quantum optical architectures. Two positions are being offered, one in the quantum information research program of Gerard Milburn, the other in the optical quantum computing research program of Tim Ralph, both at the University of Queensland node. The UQ node of CQCT is in the School of Physical Sciences.

The quantum information program is directed towards general aspects of quantum information with a particular emphasis on quantum optics. The optical quantum computing program investigates different approaches to optical quantum processing both for near term experiments and for long term scale-up. Both are part of the larger theory and experimental program in quantum computing at the University of Queensland node of CQCT. Details of the research interests of academic staff may be accessed on the school’s web site at http://www.qcaustralia.org/
