Physicists are lucky...
...in that we get to travel all over the world and work and live with some wonderful people.
- Until October 1999 I was a post-doc with Prof. Paul Kwiat, Peakfinder
Extraordinaire, in the then
Quantum Information Team (which became the
Quantum Institute and is now the Quantum
Initiative) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA.
- Prior to that, I did my PhD in the terrific Quantum Optics Group at the
Australian National University with Prof. Hans
Bachor and Prof. David McClelland.
- During that time, I was privileged to spend a year experiencing both German physics & Kultur, courtesy of the
Prof. Jürgen Mylnek, at the
Universität Konstanz, Germany.
- A Queensland kid, raised in
I did my undergraduate and Honours degrees at the University of Queensland, and yes, I am rather pleasantly surprised to find
myself back here all these years later.
Some of the Quantum Information Team in 1999. God we look young! ... and
grumpy, some of us look quite grumpy. Must have been a bad day in the lab...
Courtesy of a thoughtful gift from Şenay and

in the height of German fashion for early '95. (I will get even one day, I swear!)
