Science in Action

The Science in Action program takes science to schools and receives school groups for tours of the hands-on display rooms (Rms 163 and 164, Parnell). It also provides live-in scientists for annual camps at Lake Moogera, presenters to the George Street ScienCentre, specialises in "Magic Shows" and "Why Is It So" demonstrations and sells 3,500 Show Bags at the Brisbane Ekka with optics kits, Cartesian Divers and so on. Involvement in this program develops presentation skills and consolidates knowledge of a wide spectrum of physics. Students with a fresh outlook on physics are always welcome.

Physics Olympiad

The Physics Olympiad is run each year as an international competition in understanding of physics. The department runs an annual training school for Grade 10 students covering a broad range of theoretical and experimental physics. The school is accelerated and intense and tutors soon find themselves deeply immersed in tricky physics problems. Keen undergrad students are always welcome as tutors.
